At DETECTIVE.OS ("we," "us," or "our"), we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our AI-powered murder mystery deduction game service.

By using DETECTIVE.OS, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our service.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address (via OAuth authentication providers)
• Display name and avatar (optional, provided by your OAuth provider)
• Authentication provider information (Google, GitHub, etc.)

Usage Data

• Game sessions and investigation history
• Credit balance and transaction records
• Subscription tier information
• Gameplay statistics and preferences

Technical Data

• Browser type and version
• IP address (for security and fraud prevention)
• Device information and operating system
• Access times and referring URLs

AI Interaction Data

• Case prompts and environment settings you provide
• Conversation messages during gameplay
• AI-generated content (processed temporarily, not stored long-term)

Note: Your gameplay prompts and conversations are sent to our AI gateway provider, EvoLink, which routes requests to the selected underlying model provider. Their handling of request data is governed by the applicable provider terms and privacy practices.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain our service, including game generation and character interactions
• Process credit transactions and manage your subscription
• Generate AI-powered content based on your prompts (ephemeral processing only)
• Send important service updates, security alerts, and support messages
• Improve game mechanics, AI quality, and user experience
• Detect, prevent, and address security issues and fraudulent activity
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
• Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support

3. Data Storage and Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information:

• Database: User data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted cloud database platform
• Encryption: All connections use HTTPS/TLS encryption
• Access Controls: Strict access controls limit who can view or modify data
• Regular Audits: We conduct regular security audits and updates

Data Retention

• Account data is retained until you delete your account
• Game history and conversation logs are retained for up to 90 days
• Credit transaction records are retained for financial compliance (typically 7 years)
• Aggregated analytics data (page views, feature usage counts) may be retained indefinitely
• Session recordings are retained for up to 30 days, then permanently deleted

Session Recording

To understand how players use DETECTIVE.OS and where they encounter problems, we record how you interact with our pages: which pages you visit, how long you stay, where you click and scroll, and your browser and device type. These recordings are linked to your account when you are signed in — they are not anonymous.

We deliberately exclude the following from recordings:

• Everything you type into any input field, including your case prompts, interrogation questions, email address, and password
• The contents of your interrogation transcripts
• Payment card details (these are handled entirely by Creem and never reach our pages)

Recordings are processed by PostHog and stored in PostHog's United States cloud. In the EU, EEA, and UK, analytics and recording remain off until you consent. In other regions they are enabled by default, and you can turn them off at any time using Cookie Settings in the footer.

While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate DETECTIVE.OS:

EvoLink and AI Model Providers

We use EvoLink as the API gateway for generating game content, including characters, storylines, images, conversations, and optional emotion analysis. EvoLink routes requests to the configured underlying AI model provider. Prompts, gameplay context, and generated responses are therefore processed by EvoLink and the selected model provider under their respective terms and privacy practices.

Supabase

We use Supabase for authentication, database storage, and real-time features. Supabase maintains its own privacy policy and security practices.

OAuth Providers

We support authentication via Google, GitHub, and other OAuth providers. These providers have their own privacy policies governing the data they collect and share with us.

PostHog

We use PostHog for product analytics and session recording (see Session Recording above). PostHog processes this data on our behalf and stores it in its United States cloud. It is not used for advertising and is not sold to third parties.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to measure aggregate traffic to our pages. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and may combine this data with other Google services.

Creem

We use Creem to process payments and manage subscriptions. When you make a purchase, you are redirected to Creem's hosted checkout page. Your payment card details are entered on Creem's systems and are never transmitted to or stored by DETECTIVE.OS. Creem shares with us only the outcome of the transaction and your subscription status.

Cookies

We use cookies for the following purposes: keeping you signed in (Supabase), remembering your language preference, measuring traffic (Google Analytics), and linking your session recordings to your account (PostHog). We do not use cookies for advertising.

Authentication and language cookies are necessary for the service. Google Analytics and PostHog are controlled by our analytics consent setting. In the EU, EEA, and UK they require opt-in consent; elsewhere you can opt out at any time using Cookie Settings in the footer.

We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of these third-party services to understand how they handle your data.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
• Data Portability: Request an export of your data in a machine-readable format
• Objection: Object to certain processing of your personal information
• Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications (we currently do not send marketing emails)
• Analytics Choice: Withdraw or grant analytics consent at any time through Cookie Settings in the footer

6. Children's Privacy

DETECTIVE.OS is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make material changes, we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy

• Post a notice on our homepage for 30 days

Your continued use of DETECTIVE.OS after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
