Captain Elias Falk
Captain of the Azure Queen
Ten years at Celeste's helm — and, by her diary, two weeks from replacement. Falk swears he never left the bridge, yet the autopilot logged a hand-entered course change at 23:51.

Between two ports the Azure Queen sails on — and her owner never sees the dawn.
Celeste Marlow, the self-made founder of a navigation empire, took her yacht Azure Queen out of Valletta at dusk with five people aboard besides herself. At dinner she promised that breakfast would "settle the Meridian question once and for all." She never made it. After midnight, someone left her dead on the aft deck — one blow to the back of the head, the open sea black in every direction.
The yacht was forty nautical miles from the nearest coast. No vessel approached that night, the radar log is unbroken, the tender never left its cradle. Whoever killed Celeste Marlow is one of the five still aboard — and the Azure Queen does not reach port until noon.
The aft-deck cameras went dark for eleven minutes at 23:58 — only those cameras. Toxicology found a sedative no one admits to giving her. One blow, eleven blind minutes, five passengers who all swear they were somewhere else. Someone aboard is lying.
Owner of the Azure Queen
Forty-four and self-made, Celeste ran her company the way she ran her yacht: alone at the helm. In her final week she froze accounts, recalled documents, and booked a meeting with maritime regulators for the morning she docked. She told no one why.

Chief financial officer
Architect of the Meridian deal, locked out of the accounts two days before the crossing. Vale says he never left his cabin; the door sensor logged it opening twice before one o'clock.
Personal assistant
Seven years of Celeste's passwords and secrets. Meera spent the evening shredding papers in the crew galley — routine, she insists. Her unsent resignation letter, dated a week earlier, was still in her drawer.
Half-brother and deckhand
Works his half-sister's deck to pay off debts he won't name; guests heard them argue before dinner. Teddy says he was fishing off the swim platform at midnight — his rod stowed, his deck shoes soaked through.
Private physician and guest
Celeste's doctor of six years, invited — she says — for rest. The sedative in the victim's blood matches vials from Maren's medical case, reported ransacked only after the body was found.
